I found About The Move on Home Advisor. I was very impressed by the fact that Josh called me immediately after I entered my online request for an estimate. We hired About The Move to move several pieces of furniture from Oxford Al to Irondale Alabama. One of the pieces was a large fragile antique oak secretary with two mirrors and a leaded glass panel. Two of the other pieces were solid wood dresser and chest on chest. All of this was very heavy. Additionally, before the pieces could be moved into the house, two pieces had to be moved out of the space where these pieces were going. The About The Move Moving Team (Frank and Robbie) did a fantastic job of wrapping all of the furniture securely in heavy blankets, loading them onto the truck, following us home, and unloading the pieces after moving the existing pieces to their new place in the home. The movers worked efficiently as a team, taking care to place the furniture exactly where I wanted it. They were polite, professional, and did a wonderful job of moving some very heavy furniture without a scratch. The price was actually less than the estimated price. On the days of the move, the crew did a great job packing and moving the kit and later delivering the material we had in storage. Everything was meticulously unloaded with caution taken not to damage the furniture or the new house (walls, floors, etc) while they placed the furniture and boxes exactly where we wanted. They damaged an antique because they ran out of blankets. They damaged another antique by improperly putting screws through the top. They called the boss about the damage and he told them he would call us the next day. He did not. When I called him he offered no solutions. Two additional emails have not helped. They did a great job of packing China .
We had two estimates and they exceeded both and did not finish the job. I had to rent a 26 foot truck and two helpers to load over half a truck.

You can tell "About the Move" has been doing this a long time because there were no hiccups. The movers came exactly on time and after unloading the truck, they continued to help.
